Collaborative Learning for Developing Digital Documentary Filmmaking Skills among Educational Media Students

Abstract

This study aimed to measure the impact of collaborative learning on developing digital documentary filmmaking skills among students of Educational Media, based on the importance of utilizing modern instructional strategies to enhance students' technical and creative abilities. The researcher employed a quasi-experimental approach, applying the study to a sample of 40 male and female third-year students majoring in Radio within the Department of Educational Media.



The study utilized several assessment tools, including an achievement test to measure the cognitive aspects of digital documentary production skills, and an observation checklist to evaluate students’ performance in practical tasks. These tasks included key skills such as idea selection and scriptwriting, filming, voice narration, video editing, and digital publishing.



The study findings revealed a statistically significant positive impact of the collaborative learning environment in enhancing students' practical and theoretical skills related to digital documentary filmmaking. The study recommends integrating collaborative learning strategies into the curriculum of educational media programs, as they play an effective role in fostering cooperation, stimulating creativity, and developing 21st-century skills among students.
