Abstract

"Using some of Igor Stravinsky's melodys on piano to improve the beginning student's performance in Solfege sections and Ear training."

This research aims to improve student's performance in singing, building musical distances and compositions, reading and Solfege singing, and developing the student's ability to comprehend the element of rhythm in a manner commensurate with his studies in Solfege and Ear training.
The research is divided into two parts:

1- The first section: the theoretical section which includes:
• Previous studies.
• Solfege.
• Ear training.
• Items of Solfege (Rhythmic Solfege - Melody Solfege - Harmony Solfege).
• Igor Stravinsky (his life - his style - his works).

2- The second section: the applied section which includes:
Procedural steps for research and application of the program prepared by the researcher on the research sample of first year students, Department of Music Education, Faculty of Specific Education, Menoufia University.
The results proved the validity of the hypothesis, which confirms the effectiveness of the proposed program that was applied to the research sample.
The researcher concluded by mentioning the research recommendations, which are:
• Pay attention to developing teaching methods for Solfege.
• Performing similar studies using other international music.
