Bullying and its relationship to self-esteem and academic achievement motivation in a sample of university students

Abstract

The research aims mainly to study the relationship between bullying as perceived by university students and their self-esteem and academic achievement motivation. and the research followed the descriptive and analytical approach. To reach the following results, the most important of which is there is no correlation between bullying as a whole and total self-esteem, while a positive correlation was found between self-esteem as a whole and the total academic achievement motivation at a significance level of 0.01, and it showed that there are no statistically significant differences in the total of bullying and its interlocutors according to the mother's work. There were no differences between participating mothers and non-participating mothers with part of the income in the total of bullying and its interlocutors, as well as the absence of a statistically significant difference in the bullying questionnaire and its interlocutors according to the monthly income groups, while there was a statistically significant difference in the total self-esteem questionnaire according to the monthly income groups at a significance level of 0.05 in favor of High income, as well as the absence of a statistically significant discrepancy in the questionnaire of the motivation for academic achievement and its aspects according to the monthly income groups. Among the most important recommendations were training programs to educate faculty members about bullying, how to deal with it, early detection of it, activate the student union system and its activities, and apply them in all educational stages.
