Creating Decorative Designs Inspired by Nubian Folklore to Enrich Hotel Furnishings

Abstract

The research aims to develop designs inspired by Nubian folk art for hotel furnishings. And integrating digital printing with Nubian folk motifs to enrich hotel furnishings. Finally, determining the best decorative designs inspired by the Nubian folk art, which achieves aesthetic, originality and contemporary aspects for fabrics of hotel furnishings.
The designs applied on hotel furnishings within the bedrooms. The research tools are: (1) Plush material (80% polyester-20% cotton), and polyester fabric have texture (100% polyester), (2) decorative units inspired by Nubian folk art and (3) tools and materials needed for printing. fifteen designs were developed for hotel bedrooms fabrics, and were presented to fourteen arbitrators from the faculty members of home economics and specific education (home economics department: clothing and textile) colleges in Egyptian universities, to review their opinions on the proposed designs through a questionnaire consists of four evaluation dimensions to determine the best design in terms of quality coefficient and implement it. The seventh design achieved the highest quality coefficient with 100%, followed by the second design with a quality coefficient of 99.75% and finally the third design with a quality coefficient of 89.72%
