Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the effect of the “Gardens of Ideas” strategy on developing musical concepts among preparatory stage students. To achieve this aim, the researcher used the experimental method with a quasi-experimental one-group design. The research experiment was applied during the second semester of the academic year (2024–2025) on a group of (40) first-year preparatory students at Samalout Preparatory School for Boys. Teaching was carried out using the “Gardens of Ideas” strategy, and the content consisted of (11) instructional sessions related to musical concept skills. The research tools included (a list of various musical concepts and a cognitive test) prepared by the researcher. The results also showed improvement in all aspects in the post-test application, which indicates the effectiveness of the program in employing the “Gardens of Ideas” strategy for developing musical concepts among preparatory stage students. In light of these findings, the researcher recommends the necessity of developing different musical skills and training music education teachers to employ the “Gardens of Ideas” strategy in music education curricula across all educational levels.
