The history of nations represents a living memory of major events that shape their identity. Egypt holds a unique place in this context as it hosted the Holy Family and Jesus Christ, granting it a sacred status and making the journey’s route a constant subject in heritage and religious tourism. In modern times, Egypt isdevoted to developing this route, aiming to include it on the tourism map after its recognition by the Pope of the Vatican as part of Christian pilgrimage sites. The research problem lies in the absence of a comprehensive touristic guide—printed or digital—for the Holy Family route, despite its spiritual and historical value. The existing sites lack international promotion compared to other pilgrimage routes. Therefore, this study aims to employ digital tools such as interactive maps to enrich the visitor experience while linking the route to sustainable development.
The research adopts the descriptive-analytical method to explore the journey from North Sinai to Assiut, highlighting state efforts in restoring monasteries and churches, upgrading infrastructure, and supporting local communities. It also discusses the role of traditional and digital guides in enhancing the tourist experience, as well as the importance of communication in their success, alongside the challenges facing it.
The study concludes that a unified and integrated electronic guide is a strategic necessity. Through cooperation between the state, the church, the private sector, and local communities, the Holy Family route can become a global tourism product that strengthens Egypt’s spiritual and cultural position while achieving sustainable economic and developmental returns.
