Abstract

The study aimed to identify the motives behind university students' use of mobile news applications and their relationship to the level of trust in the media. The study used the media survey approach, using a questionnaire tool that was applied to a sample of 492 students from Minya University, Menoufia University, and Beni Suef University from various faculties. The results showed that the majority of students use the Youm7 application, which is their most used, at an average rate, while some use it intensively or weakly. The results also revealed the absence of a statistically significant correlation between mobile news applications and their relationship to the level of trust in the media. On the other hand, the results showed a statistically significant relationship between the level of trust in the media and the motives for university students' use. There are also statistically significant differences in the motives for using mobile news applications according to demographic variables (gender), with males being higher than females.
