Abstract

The research aims to study and analyze the structural and geometric principles of impossible shapes to arrives to innovative design solutions. It also aims to equip students with the necessary skills in design construction by studying how to construct impossible shapes and maximizing their ability to manipulate shapes by establishing the relationship between impossible and geometric shapes through achieving the structural integrity of the design form. Utilizing the types of impossible shapes and their geometric structural system is an interesting topic that combines art, mathematics, and psychology. These shapes rely on human perception of images in a way that contradicts reality. Using these shapes in design enhances the design's appeal. It also contributes to creating diverse, innovative formative formulations that can serve as an introduction to design teaching. The research seeks to increase knowledge through the study of impossible shapes, which can lead to the growth of art education students' design thinking, enabling them to develop and reproduce impossible shapes in a creative and innovative manner, utilizing the geometric form. The study presented what are impossible shapes, systems and geometric construction, types of impossible shapes, and how to utilize impossible shapes in design. The students produced geometric designs utilizing impossible shapes with an artistic and innovative touch. The research hypothesis (enriching students' designs by utilizing impossible shapes) was achieved through a pre-and post-experiment. The difference in the average scores between the pre- and post-interviews was calculated, and there were statistically significant differences between the two interviews in favor of the post-interview
