The Effect of Blending Learning on Development Some Music Improvisation Skills and Self-Competencies Among Students of the Faculty of Specific Education

Abstract

The current research aims to develop some improvisation skills and self-efficacy among second-year students in the Department of Music Education at the Faculty of Specific Education through developing a blended learning environment, designed through the Microsoft OneDrive platform. The research followed the descriptive and experimental approaches, and the quasi-experimental design with two groups for a sample of (60) second-year students in the Department of Music Education at the Faculty of Education, Minia University. The research was implemented in the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025 AD. They were divided into two groups: the experimental group, which included (30) students, who studied through a blended learning environment, and the control group, which studied through a traditional learning environment and included (30) students. The research tools were: a performance test for improvisation skills, and a self-efficacy scale. The results showed the superiority of the experimental group in the post-application of the performance test for improvisation skills and the self-efficacy scale, which indicates an improvement in their skill level in some improvisation skills and self-efficacy through the application of various activities within the traditional part of blended learning. The study recommended the need to pay attention to improvisation skills. Using modern methods and strategies to develop various musical skills.
