Abstract
TThe research aims to investigate the technical employment of social change issues and their reflections on reportage theatre. It adopts a sociological methodology, with the sample consisting of the dramatic text "Their Excellencies"by the author "Hassan Saad"The most significant findings concluded that:
1."Saad's"work employs social critique by simulating"King Farouk's"reign before the1952revolution, projecting current conditions to reveal textual techniques that emphasize the setting's unity, diversity, and temporal shifts. It highlights character realism, role exchange, and varied narrative styles, including dramatic narration, flashbacks, diverse media, journalistic investigation, and public opinion polling. The research also aims to showcase" reportage theatre's"characteristics through its social and political critique, its blend of theatre and journalism, and its cognitive and artistic objectives, all geared towards stimulating participation and change.
2.The author integrates two complementary sociological approaches to social change:the idealistic, which stresses culture and ideology in guiding the working class characters,"Saber"and"Saber",and the materialistic, which focuses on economic factors like unemployment and lack of resources, and technological factors such as television. The text illustrates stages of social change, beginning with Saber challenging traditions, progressing through transition(for evaluating new ideas),financing(for societal restructuring),and finally to application, while encouraging the audience to revolt against the capitalist "Pashas" and their descendants.
3".Epic","documentary",and"reportage"theatre all share the goal of improving reality by using theatre as a tool for societal and revolutionary influence. This involves linking theatre with community issues and dismantling audience barriers to encourage change a vision Saad embraced, understanding theatre's educational and motivational role.
