Abstract

Music, the universal language of the soul, transcends words, expressing emotions too profound for speech. Among the many instruments that have captivated composers, the piano stands out as a symbol of artistic depth and technical mastery.

In the 20th century, French music experienced a renaissance, blending classical counterpoint from the Renaissance and Baroque eras with the innovative rhythms and harmonies of the time. This fusion emphasized intellectual refinement and emotional restraint.

One of the era’s most notable figures was Georges Auric, a distinguished French composer and pianist. His extensive body of work includes chamber music, ballet scores, and solo piano compositions, each showcasing a refined and diverse pianistic technique.

This research explores previous studies on the subject, offering insights into 20th-century French music and Auric’s compositional style. Adopting a descriptive-analytical approach, it examines his piano piece "Adieu New York", analyzing its theoretical and technical aspects while providing performance recommendations to overcome interpretative challenges.

The study concludes with key findings, interpretations, and recommendations, highlighting Auric’s contributions to modern piano literature and his unique fusion of tradition and innovation.
