The style of Performing Tango Compositions according to Felix Maglio (Pacho) and its use for students of the Piano

Abstract

The dance formula is considered one of the most important musical formulas for composers of the piano in particular and music in general, because it is based on several basic elements, the first of which is time, then melody, harmony and rhythm, It also contains modern playing techniques, and the tango dance is considered one of the most famous and distinctive folk dances that has gained great popularity among different peoples. It is an Argentine dance of African origin that was transmitted by Negroes and is characterized by sweet melodies for its use small stairs in all their variations.

The aim of this research is to identify the technical characteristics of the tango compositions of Juan Felix Maglio, and to identify the musical difficulties of the compositions while providing appropriate solutions to overcome those difficulties.

The importance of the research lies in reducing playing difficulties with instructions and exercises to improve the performance of playing tango pieces for piano students.

The results showed that the authors style was distinguished by his use of simple rhythms, movement between nearby stairs, his use of ornaments to add aesthetic coloring to the composition, the frequent use of double tones and harmonies, and his avoidance of dissonance.
