The Effectiveness of a Nutritional Education Program on Nutritional Behaviours among Students with Hearing Disability

Abstract

The aim of the current research is to study the effect of a nutrition education program on the nutrition behaviors of students with hearing disabilities. The research adopted two approaches, one of which is the descriptive and analytical approach, and the other is the quasi-experimental approach. The study was conducted on a sample consisting of (15) primary school students and (21) student from the middle school and there were (28) students from the high school, with a total number of the sample was (64). The researcher prepared a questionnaire to measure the level of nutritional awareness, a questionnaire to measure nutritional behaviors, and a questionnaire to measure the nutritional attitudes of students before and after implementing the program in order to achieve the research objectives. The researcher implemented the program is conducted on a weekly basis, with two sessions per week, with each session lasting 90 minutes. The program included a total of nine sessions over five weeks. The researcher began teaching the program to students with hearing disabilities with the aim of ensuring the proper implementation of the experiment and ensuring that teaching is carried out seriously and committedly according to the specified plan. The results of the research showed that there were statistically significant differences between the average scores of the study group’s students in the cognitive nutritional awareness scale, the dietary behaviors scale, and the dietary attitudes scale.
