Family relationships and their relationship to intellectual security among a sample of university students

Abstract

The research aimed to study the nature of the relationship between family relationships in its dimensions and intellectual security among university students in the research sample. The research followed a descriptive-analytical method, with research tools represented in a general data form, and questionnaires on family relationships and intellectual security among university students. The research sample included (470) male and female students from Benha University, with the sample selected purposively from different social and economic levels. After collecting the data, it was statistically analyzed to verify the research hypotheses using the SPSS program.

The results showed a statistically significant positive relationship between family relationships in its dimensions and intellectual security among university students in the research sample, and no statistically significant differences were found among university students in the research sample in total family relationships and intellectual security according to (place of residence, gender, age group, family size). It was also confirmed that there was no statistically significant difference in the average scores of students in total family relationships and intellectual security according to (student's rank among siblings, parents' educational level, monthly family income).

The research recommended the preparation of guidance programs for university students to develop their personalities and enhance their intellectual security. It also recommended increasing societal awareness of preventive methods against the risk of intellectual deviation through publications, training courses, and guidance programs.
