Abstract

The research aims to treat the design of old clothes using the aesthetics of Zellige art and the technique of hand printing in applying decorations to out-of-fashion clothes, achieving the aesthetic, innovative, and economic aspect through the revival of old clothes. Old clothes are considered a huge economic wealth that should be exploited by reviving them with innovative design treatments and not discarding them, thereby harming the environment. Therefore, the research group worked on a collection of design treatments for old clothes, totaling (11) designs, using the aesthetics of Zellige art and the technique of thermal printing. The research sample consisted of a random sample of female workers at the university and graduates of the Clothing and Textiles department, numbering (51) at Menoufia University. The research tools included a survey to measure and evaluate the treated designs by the research sample and a group of faculty members specialized in the field of clothing and textiles, numbering (10). The research followed a descriptive analytical approach with an applied approach. The research results achieved its hypotheses as follows: There are statistically significant differences between the average opinions of the specialized judges and the research sample regarding the proposed designs in terms of the availability of the aesthetic, innovative, and economic aspects. The research group recommended the importance of benefiting from old clothes in different ways and achieving sustainability, and linking between the fields of scientific research and industrial fields so that the results of research can be applied in preserving the environment
