Abstract

Research problem :

1- How effective is the symbol in expressing the intellectual and artistic contents in the Halavit play?

research importance

The importance comes from the topic, as the optimal use of the symbol in the play provides it with the elements of beauty and intellectual and artistic reverence, and gives it continuity and immortality in the memory of the recipient.

research aims

Studying one of the theatrical texts by the writer Mahmoud Diab with criticism and analysis to identify how he uses the symbol. Thus, the research is a continuation of some topics in academic studies that dealt with his theatre.

There is nothing wrong with the play by disagreeing about its symbols, because this difference means dramatic fertility based on the multiplicity of echoes, the diversity of dimensions, and the gradation of shadows. For example, we may say that the tree on which the lighting (Klub) was hung at the beginning of the play symbolizes, in the greenness of its leaves, the hope of changing the situation based on the class struggle among the Halavit.
