Abstract

The research aimed to reveal the effectiveness of the flipped classroom strategy in providing the female students of clothing and textile department with the skills of manufacturing children's clothes, and the attitude towards the profession/manufacturing of clothes, and in reducing academic procrastination among them. The descriptive and experimental method was used. The research sample consisted of (60) female students. The research tools were: applied test (note card, product evaluation scale), (achievement file, project) to measure the skill-performance aspect, a scale of the attitude towards the profession/clothing manufacturing, and a scale of academic procrastination. The results showed that the flipped classroom strategy had a significant impact on skills development, and a moderate effect on both developing the attitude towards the profession and reducing academic procrastination; this confirms the educational importance of the flipped classroom strategy. The results also showed that there was a direct correlation between the level of skills and the attitudes of the students, while there was an inverse correlation between each of the skills, attitudes and academic procrastination. This indicates the need to take them into account when designing flipped classes. Accordingly, it was recommended to use the flipped classroom strategy in teaching practical skills in home economics sciences, especially in the field of clothing, textiles, and fashion design at university level, and to organize training courses and workshops to provide specialized faculty members and teachers with the techniques and skills to use them.
