Creating Wall Hangings Inspired by Saudi Heritage Using Modern Techniques to Enrich Cultural Exhibitions

Abstract

The research aimed to creating designs for wall hangings inspired by Heritage for the southern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including the regions (Asir, Al-Baha, Jazan, Najran), and the sources of inspiration from the heritage decorative units in the southern region were characterized by vocabulary and distinctive aesthetic values, which it has been employed by following the principles and elements of design in order to achieve aesthetic and functional aspects in the design of wall hangings using modern techniques in implementation (such as 3D printing, 3D machine embroidery, machine embroidery using luminous threads, luminous fabrics, digital printing),To enrich cultural exhibitions in addition to measuring the percentage of agreement of both specialists and visitors to cultural exhibitions in the innovative designs of wall hangings represented in the number (22) wall hangings, in addition to implementing selections from them that obtained the highest results by the two research samples, represented in the number (4) wall hangings, and measuring the percentage of agreement between specialists and visitors to cultural exhibitions regarding the designs implemented for wall hangings. The descriptive analytical research was followed to measure the opinions of both specialists and visitors to cultural exhibitions in the proposed designs, with the application of selected designs.
