Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the effect of using electronic entertainment education in teaching Home Economics to develop the information generating skills and reduce cognitive failure in daily life tasks for the educable mentally retarded pupils at the fifth grade of primary school. The research sample consisted of (12) pupils in the fifth grade of primary school, who were divided into two groups, an experimental group consisting of (7) pupils, and a control group consisting of (5) pupils. The research used the semi-experimental methodology. With the aim to achieve the objectives of the research, Home Economics lessons were planned and programmed according to the two types of electronic entertainment education Tools of the research were prepared in the form of testing information generating skills , as well as the note card of cognitive failure

The research results:

- The effectiveness of using electronic entertainment education based on in developing information generating skills and reducing cognitive failure in life tasks among the pupils of the experimental group compared to the performance of the pupils of the control group.

- There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the pupils in the experimental group in the pre and post applications to test information generating skills and the cognitive failure scale, in favor of the post application.

- There is a positive direct correlation between the growth of information generating skills and the reduction of cognitive failure in life tasks, in favor of the pupils of the experimental group.
