Abstract

In Egypt's Vision 2030, the axis of culture emphasized the need for a new system for promoting heritage industries and traditional crafts and safeguarding them as cultural heritage. Many traditional crafts, including Al-Qaqasis mattress craft in Assiut Governorate, are on the verge of extinction, so the idea of research represented in the application of the theory re-engineering in the production of Al-Qaqasis matress with contemporary creative formulations that rise to global competition, as an attempt to revive this authentic folklore.

1.Is it feasible to use re-engineering theory to create traditional Al-Qaqasis mattresses with innovative formulations that compete on a global level

2. What are the specialists' and consumers' opinions on the implemented pieces

Using re-engineering theory to revive the traditional skill of Al-Qaqasis mattresses with contemporary creative formulations that reach the international level

Research importance

Shedding light on the concept of traditional crafts and their role in preserving the Egyptian identity and achieving the principle of sustainability by recycling used clothes and manufacturing clothing waste (Al-Qaqasis)

Results

Executing pieces of Al-Qasasis furnishings, home décor accessories and bags, according to specialists and consumers opinions, the executed items achieve functional, aesthetic, and economic elements.
