Abstract

The current research aims to identify the effect of employing enrichment activities in home economics based on the realistic teaching model to develop analytical thinking skills and awareness of some science, technology and society issues for high school students. The research relied on the experimental design of two groups; One is experimental and the other is control, and the experimental group consisted of (21) female students, and the control group consisted of (21) female students from the high school. and society), and the design of educational materials (a guide to enrichment activities for the teacher, and a handbook of scientific content for the issues of science, technology and society agreed upon.The results of the research have yielded statistically significant between the mean scores of the students in the experimental group in the pre and post application of the analytical thinking skills test in favor of the post application, and a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the students in the experimental group in the pre and post application of the scale of awareness of issues of science, technology and society in favor of the post application. The search results also revealed that there is a positive correlation between the development of each of the verbal skills Analytical care and awareness of issues of science, technology and society after teaching a unit in home economics using the realistic teaching model for female first year secondary students.
