Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the effectiveness of alternative evaluation strategies on developing a deep understanding of research methods and reducing exam anxiety among female students of the Faculty of Home Economics, Al-Azhar University. At the Faculty of Home Economics, Al-Azhar University, it was divided into two experimental groups consisting of (30) female students, and a control group of (38) female students. The tools represented in: (Deep Comprehension Test in a Research Methods Course, Exam Anxiety Scale) were used. The results of the research revealed that there was a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (01.0) between the mean scores of the students of the experimental and control groups in the post-application of the deep understanding test as a whole, and in all its sub-dimensions (generative thinking, nature of interpretations, decision-making, asking questions) in favor of the group’s students. It also resulted in the presence of a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (01.0) between the mean scores of the students of the experimental and control groups in the post application of the exam anxiety scale as a whole, and in all its sub-dimensions in favor of the experimental group students. Modern assessment to develop deep understanding and reduce exam anxiety, such as alternative assessment strategies, especially communication assessment, peer assessment, and assessment with achievement file.
