Abstract

Research Summary
Research problem: crystallized in the following main question: What are the features of alienation in Mahmoud Diab's theater?, and how did he deal with it?
Research importance:
1- This research deals with a vital and dangerous problem, which is the problem of alienation.
2- Mahmoud Theatre.
3- Standing on the features of the image of the Egyptian peasant as drawn by the text of the play “Al Zawba’a”.
Research aims :
1- Getting to know the phenomenon of alienation in Mahmoud Diab's theater.
2- Identifying the effects of alienation as reflected in the play, the research sample.
Research type and methodology: The research is a descriptive research in content analysis.
The study sample: the play "The Whirlwind", by Mahmoud Diab.
Research results:
- The Whirlwind play discusses the issue of injustice.
- The manifestations of alienation are clear on the events of the play "The Whirlwind" since its inception.
- The play "The Whirlwind" belongs to the realistic trend in the Egyptian theater.
- The whirlwind characters are well-built; This helped deepen the alienation within the souls of her characters.
- Aspects of alienation from the village community in general were clear in the text in more than one place.
- Alienation appears in most of the characters in the play.
