Employing the concept of sustainable development in teaching the automatic and manual knitting course and measuring students' opinions about it

Abstract

The idea of the research is to employ manual knitting techniques to produce sustainable clothing supplements by developing the knowledge and skills of fourth year students in the automatic and manual knitting course in light of the principles of sustainable development.
The aim of the research is to educate students about the concept of sustainable development and its importance in society, implementing clothing supplements characterized by achieving the principle of sustainability.
The importance of the research is due to the dissemination of the culture of sustainable development and the clarification of the relationship between fashion and sustainable development, as well as the use of hand knitting techniques in the production of clothing accessories that are characterized by innovation and achieve the principles of sustainability.
The research problem lies in the following questions:
1- What is the possibility of achieving the concept of sustainability in the pieces implemented for the automatic and manual knitting course?
2- What are the students’ opinions about applying the concept of sustainable development in teaching the manual knitting course?
One of the most important Results of the research is the implementation of clothing supplements within the automatic and manual knitting course, and it turns out that there are statistically significant differences between the pieces implemented in achieving the concept of sustainability from an aesthetic and functional point of view, according to the opinions of the arbitrators.
