Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the effectiveness of employing the strategy of lessons of hypotheses and experiments in teaching home economics to develop deep understanding and social competence for primary school students. The researcher followed the descriptive analytical approach, and the quasi-experimental approach, and the research sample consisted of (28) male and female students from the primary school students. For the purpose of the research, the researcher prepared a set of materials that included: a guide for the teacher with accompanying worksheets for the students, and a number of tools represented in the social competence skills scale, the deep understanding test.the research results resulted in:
- There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the students in the experimental group in the pre and post application of the deep understanding test in favor of the post application.
- There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the students in the experimental group in the pre and post application of the social competence skills scale in favor of the post application.
- There is a positive correlation between the development of deep understanding and social competence in the light of the strategy of hypotheses and experiments. The researcher recommended the importance of including the strategy of lessons of hypotheses and experiments in the course of teaching methods (which is studied in the first semester of the fourth year specializing in educational home economics),
