Abstract

Summary
Research problem: crystallized in the following main question: How did Saad Allah Wannous portray the character Islamic cleric in his plays?.
The importance of the research: The religious figure is one of the taboos that playwrights try to avoid dealing with. Therefore, addressing it in such a large way in Saadallah Wannous Theater is a phenomenon worthy of research.
Research objectives: to identify the characteristics and features of the character cleric as reflected by the research sample.
Research Methodology: Descriptive.
The method of selecting the sample: The researcher made a comprehensive survey of all of Saadallah Wannous's theatrical works, and deliberately chose all his works that clearly and explicitly dealt with the personality of the cleric.
The study sample: the texts "The King is the King", "An Evening with Abu Khalil Al-Qabbani", "A Day of Our Time", "Rituals of Signs and Metamorphoses", "The Adventure of the Ra's al-Mamluk Jaber", and "Samar Party for June 5".
Research results:
- Saadallah Wannous showed all the clerics in his theatrical texts, the research sample, with hypocritical men who use religion to achieve their personal ends only.
- In the theatrical texts - the sample of the research - the clergyman enjoys the respect, appreciation and reverence of the majority of the people, and he has a great influence on the parish in the country.
