Designing and pattern preparing Problems of moccasins footwear (Field Study)

Abstract

Shoe industry is considered one of the oldest crafts known to human, and it occupies a great position in Egypt, as one of the small and medium industries. Moccasin footwear is the oldest types of footwear, which differs from the other types of shoes in terms of the method of patterns preparing, as it requires high accuracy during the design process and requires special specifications for pattern preparing for it.
The research aims to identify the factors affecting the processes of Design and Pattern preparing of men's Moccasin footwear and the most problems facing these stages and their causes. The research followed the descriptive analytical approach through a field study, where the research sample included (15) factories for Moccasin footwear in Egypt. and conducting Some personal interviews and apply a questionnaire to know how far following the correct scientific rules in these two stages for Moccasin footwear and the most important problems related to them, to develop solutions to advance that industry.
The research found that the most problems related to these two stages are (reliance on the Internet instead of creativity to design, fashion different influences of men's Moccasin footwear, the variation of its design specifications, and the specifications of its lasts, as well as the Pattern preparing of men's Moccasin footwear by manual method, in addition to the problems of the grading of it, and the absence of a factory designer), with an analysis of the causes of problems and offering solutions and proposals to overcome them.
