Abstract

This study seeks to identify the relationship between reality and dream in the play "The Blue People", and to uncover the most important characters who represented reality and dream.
This study used a structural-formative approach
The study found a set of results, the most important of which are:
1- There is a strong relationship between reality and dream. The painful -bitter -cruel reality represented by (the beggar world) street vendors -garbage collectors- cemetery dwellers. It is what prompted the characters of the play to dream of (marriage- wealth- building homes for the homeless and cemetery dwellers). To get out of this reality with all its suffering and circumstances.
2- The theatrical text "The Blue People" presented the reality of the cemetery dwellers represented by the character (Saber- Saeed- Safsaf- Jahsh -the beggar) and what they suffer from pain, homelessness and misery, and the reality and the well-off and happy reality of the wealthy represented by the personality of the teacher "Saleh" and the lady of "high societies", and this indicates the absence of society's standards and values, so no one is indifferent to the other.
3- Safsaf and Jahsh, they dreamed of bonding with each other, forming families, and living a decent life, but reality prevented them from achieving this dream.
4- One of the most important characters who represented reality and dream together - in the play “The Blue People” is the character of “Saber,” then “Saeed,” then “Hayat,” then “Shahat,” and then my character, “Jahsh and Safsaf”.
