Abstract

The relationship of nutritional awareness and nutritional behavior to academic achievement of primary school students
The current research aims to study the nutritional awareness and nutritional behavior of primary school students and their effect on academic achievement as well as the relationship of nutritional behavior to the spread of malnutrition diseases. The current research adopted the descriptive analytical approach. The research was applied in schools of different economic and social levels between urban and rural areas, where the sample included 20 students for each grade from the second to the sixth of the primary stage, with a total of 100 male and female students. Throughout the research, the researcher prepared a 24-hour retrieval form, a questionnaire to measure food awareness as well as a questionnaire to measure the nutritional behavior of the pupils (with family - at school - on trips and with friends), and calculated the weight and height of the research sample. The results of the research came as follows: There are statistically significant differences between nutritional awareness, nutritional behavior and academic achievement and there is a statistically significant relationship between the spread of some different diseases and the nutritional practices of the study sample.
