Abstract

The aim of the research was to demonstrate the similarities and differences between the two methods of Berens and Wittgenstein in developing left-handed playing skills, and to prepare a study concerned with developing left-hand playing skills. The research followed the descriptive approach (content analysis). Entitled (Training for the Left Hand), Op. (89) No. (1031), exercises for the first part of Wittgenstein's book entitled (Paul Wittgenstein School for the Left Hand).

The search consisted of two frameworks:

Theoretical framework: It includes: History of the Compositions of the Left Hand on the Piano - Johann Hermann Berens - Paul Wittgenstein.
Applied framework: It includes: the descriptive study of exercises for the left hand by Berens and Wittgenstein.

The researcher was able to identify the most important features of the style of both Johann Hermann Berens and Paul Wittgenstein in developing the skills of left-handers and the most important skills included in the exercises and the ways to benefit from them, And that is through descriptive study and instrumental analysis, with clarification of performance requirements as indicated by the authors, and presenting the musical instructions suggested by the researcher.

The research concluded with recommendations - and a list of Arab and foreign references - and websites.
