Abstract

The aim of the current research was to investigate the effectiveness of using a strategy based on brain-based learning theory for teaching art education in developing artistic skills and achievement motivation among fifth graders. To this aim, the quasi-experimental research design was adopted and the research instruments included an observation sheet for artistic education, a scale for achievement motivation, working papers, and a teacher’s guide. The sample comprised two groups: a control group (N=48) and an experimental group (N= 47). The findings of the research showed that there is statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and control group on the post-measurements of both the observation sheet (for each skill) and the achievement motivation scale in favor of the experimental group. In addition, there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group and control group on the post-measurement of the achievement motivation scale in favor of the experimental group.
