The extent to which the talk shows on the Egyptian satellite channels adhere to professional and ethical standards

Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the extent to which talk shows on the Egyptian satellite channels adhere to professional and ethical standards. The research is based on the (analytical) flat survey methodology. By conducting a sample survey of the episodes of the program “Happens in Egypt” broadcast on MBC (Egypt), the “Ten PM” program broadcast on Dream 2, and the “Everyday” program broadcast on (ON-E TV). A content analysis form was used to collect the required data. The researcher concluded that there is statistical significance in favor of applying the sub-criterion (not violating the privacy of individuals) to a large extent, and the two sub-criteria (integrity of language), and (respecting the viewer's mind and not misleading him) with a medium degree in favor of a program that takes place in Egypt and ten in the evening, while they were not achieved in favor of a program every day. While there was a statistical indication in favor of not applying the rest of the other professional and ethical standards
