The Effectiveness of Using Project Based Learning and Its Impact on the Efficiency of Knowledge Representation of Information Students of King Faisal University

Abstract

The current study aimed to know the efficiency of the cognitive representation of information among students of King Faisal University in the light of the independent variable represented in the method of teaching, "the project-based learning method". To achieve this goal, the study used the descriptive approach in reviewing the results of previous researches and studies and educational literature and making use of them in preparing research tools, and the quasi-experimental approach was used to identify the impact of project-based learning on the efficiency of knowledge representation of students at King Faisal University students. A measure of the efficiency of the cognitive representation of information among university students was built on the basis of previous studies and theoretical frameworks for educational literature. The scale consisted of (36) paragraphs distributed among four areas: (preservation, storage, classification, linkage, synthesis, summarization, derivation, generation, recruitment, and use, evaluation). The scale was applied to a sample of (50) female students at faculty of education, King Faisal University for the academic year (2015/2016). The study concluded with identifying a list of projects that fit the university level and contribute to raising the level of cognitive representation of information, and determining the list of indicators that express the criteria for evaluating students in these projects.
