Addressing Theatrical Performances Presented by Satellite Channels to the Issues of Social Reality (Analytical Study)

Abstract

The current research seeks to investigate the extent to which theatrical shows, presented by satellite channels, address the social reality issues. The researcher utilized the analytical descriptive design. To collect data, instruments included a content analysis form for theatrical shows. The study sample consisted of (18) theatrical shows including (12) shows for the program of "No problem at all" and (6) shows for the program of "Masr-Theatre" during two sequent TV sessions (from 1-4-2016 to 30-6-2016 and from 1-4-2017 to 30-6-2017). Results showed that from social reality issues dealt by theatrical shows of the program of "No problem at all", social issues came at the first rank. Furthermore, from social reality issues dealt by theatrical shows of "Masr- Theatre" program, social and behavioral issues came at the first rank.
