An examination of some songs from the play City of Art (The Sculptor) within the activities of the Tenth Theatrical Creativity Festival at Assiut University for the year 2021

Soundtrack music plays a vital and important role in expressing different scenes and situations, no less than its role in integrating and harmonizing the various elements in embodying the dramatic work. It is considered an important element in the fabric of the artistic work, and the audible equivalent of the cinematic, theatrical, television or radio scene, It is one of the basic elements in the making of a cinematic film or play. Soundtrack music preceded dialogue in silent films at the dawn of the world cinema industry, the most prominent of which were Charlie Chaplin’s films. Due to the lack of sound technology at that time, the viewer was expressed through showing the film. The silent one On the screen, the musician or pianist plays pieces that suit the different scenes. Music is much stronger with the visual and moving image alone than its connection with other arts. It gives expressive qualities to clarify and confirm what the image or dramatic situation contains, as well as what the artistic works contain in terms of design, decoration, and drawing. To integrate the artists’ sense of one idea.

The Play Creativity Festival is one of the largest student activities organized by the Ministry of Higher Education at the level of the various colleges at Assiut University, as it aims to bring together different cultures and bring out talent at Assiut University. The Faculty of Specific Education won first place in visual music and songs (the subject of the research).
